The cultivation practices of Mayan herbalists are fascinating and varied, steeped in tradition and adapted to the unique ecosystems of Mesoamerica. Mayan herbalists believe in cultivating a harmonious relationship with the land, minimizing invasive practices.

Herbal Medicine in Guatemala.

  • “Join us on a journey to explore Nature’s Apothecary: Learn how to cultivate, identify, and utilize herbs for a holistic approach to wellness.”
  • “Empower your health with the wisdom of plants: Discover simple herbal remedies and recipes for everyday well-being.”
  • “Let nature be your guide: Connect with the healing power of herbs and embrace a natural path to optimal health.”
  • “Boost your immunity naturally: Harness the power of echinacea, elderberry, and other immune-supporting herbs.”
  • “Find your calm in the garden: Unwind with the soothing properties of lavender, chamomile, and other stress-relieving herbs.”
  • “Nourish your body from within: Explore the culinary and medicinal wonders of adaptogenic herbs like turmeric and ashwagandha.”

Day one is spent in Mayan Herbalist’s Gardens Identifying different Herbs used daily by Mayan Healers. Herbs are groups based on their common uses, such as pain relief, digestive support, or respiratory issues.

  • Participants are encouraged to taste (safely!), smell, and touch the herbs to deepen their understanding and appreciation.
  • Participants are shown how the harvested herbs are stored and prepared for medicinal use.

Day two of your herbal journey is most exciting and practical! Learning how to process herbs into tinctures, lotions, and creams empowers participants to create their natural remedies.

  • We work with our participants on how to make tinctures with alcohol, oils, and vinegar, explaining the differences and best uses for each.
  • We encourage participants to choose herbs and work with specific herbs based on their preferences and intended uses.

“You are here on day three of your herbal journey, ‘Grow Your Own Cure’! Individualized consultations provide a beneficial way for participants to get more insight and specialized help.”

  • We encourage any participants to discuss any questions, concerns, or specific ailments they may have. Encourage them to be open and honest to receive the most relevant advice.
  • Provide recommendations for herbal remedies, lifestyle practices, or additional resources based on your specific journey.
  • We offer access to a network of resources beyond the workshop, such as herbalists, online communities, or relevant books and websites. This ensures you have ongoing support and guidance as you progress on their path.
